Sometimes a change of plans can work out big time in our favor and that happened to us last weekend! Craig and Lindsey were originally planning on doing their engagement session later this spring with Craigs awesome boat BUT a big time musician decided to have a concert the day of their wedding. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal except it means that hotel rooms are going to book quickly and if we wait too long to send invites, a lot of their guests would be in trouble.

So we decided to move the session forward to winter. And what do you know, we have a 68 degree day in the middle of February, it couldn’t have worked out better! We got the perfect combo of raging river, rustic fields, and classy downtown Depere engagement pictures way ahead of schedule! I asked Lindsey to share some of her thoughts from the day! Enjoy!

How did you two meet?

“We were set up on a blind date by two friends. We chatted a lot throughout the night and even went out for breakfast with friends. He ‘s so shy he wouldn’t ask for my number, so I took the pen off the table and wrote my number on his hand and said “Don’t wash your hands now!” He called me a couple days later and the rest is history!!”

How did he pop the question?

“We had picked out the ring already, so I kind of knew it was coming. I have a 14 year old daughter and we were all just watching tv and she asked “When are you going to propose already?” Craig got up, and we just thought he was doing something else but he came back with the ring and put his arm around me and said “So?” My daughter started bawling and of course, I said yes!”

Did you find a clothing store that had everything you were looking for?

“I love Modcloth.com. I got my dress that I’m wearing in the engagement pictures and also my wedding dress there! They have a great mix of vintage-inspired clothing and fresh modern clothing that no one else will have!”

How was your experience during your session?

“The experience was great! CJ talked to us beforehand about what we really wanted out of the session. He has great ideas that no one else will have. What I really wanted was some artistic, natural pictures of us that were going to be timeless and that’s what we got!”

Now that you’re a pro, what advice do you have for other brides planning their engagement sessions?

CJ has all the great ideas! Don’t come in with too many pre-thought out ideas because I feel like that takes away from the artistic part of the pictures. I felt like I should go into the session with ideas for what I wanted (place, theme, outfits, etc), but CJ assured me that was what he was there for! He came up with a lot of our ideas and that was perfect.

We went to Fonferek Glen and also downtown DePere. We had never been to Fonferek Glen and it was amazing! A beautiful, natural setting which was exactly what we wanted.”
