Jessica and Nick were kind enough to share some stories with me about their relationship leading up to this point and in turn I’m happy to share it now with you! 😀

How did you two meet?

We met at our campus church in Stevens Point after both going there for two years and never having a conversation. In the fall of 2014 we happened to both be talking to a mutual friend. Two months later, we were in love!

How did he pop the question?
Nick and I spent a weekend camping and hiking Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior, my favorite place to be. Long story somewhat short: we spent too much time swimming, walked a long way, didn’t find our reserved campground, threw up the tent somewhere random in total darkness, and at 6:00 the next morning Nick and I watched the sunrise from a bluff overlooking a valley of trees and Lake Superior. It was beautiful and perfectly unplanned for us to be there! Nick got down on one knee, held out a gorgeous ring, and asked me to marry him. I thought for sure I was still dreaming! It was the most perfect moment of my life 🙂

What kind of look were you going for in your photos?
The story of the Red Flannel:
When we shared our first ever kiss, which was very perfect, Nick was wearing a red and black flannel. After that, whenever he wore it we would point out the fact that he was wearing it that night, and it quickly became the “first kiss flannel” for us. Nick purposely wore that same flannel the morning he proposed to me, so now it’s a VERY special shirt! We just had to have an engagement photo taken with it to begin documentation of the Red Flannel and it’s activities.

How was your experience during your session?
We had a lot of fun during our engagement session! We both felt comfortable enough to be ourselves throughout the shoot.

What location did you choose for your session?
We chose to have our engagement photos taken at Rib Mountain in Wausau, which is where I asked Jess to be my girlfriend. It’s definitely a special place to us. Having our session there in the fall created some extremely picturesque spots. The colors of fall and the natural beauty of the park itself, made finding beautiful locations a breeze. We were also able to get shots at the very spot where I told Jess I was serious about our new relationship. And here we are getting married!
