Since doing their engagement session this summer, I was crazy excited for the actual wedding, and even though I’ve photographed weddings in Pamperin Park many times, WOW this one was the best yet!
As a guy I know how most guys think, “pictures aren’t something we want a lot of so as long as there’s a few good ones, we’ll be happy.” So with the guys I always like to get one or two “epic” ones that make them look like mobsters/rockstars/awesome and using three light sources I got a cool image of all the guys. With the ladies I take a different approach, have a lighter feel to the images and frame in such a way that the eye is drawn to their smiling faces, we had to deal with freshly-cut wet grass so I used the winding road to add a little extra motion to their images. The results are, well, you can see for yourself!
After the wedding ceremony in Pamperin Park and the many amazing images that followed, we went to the Rock Garden reception hall in Green Bay. I’ve photographed there several times before and actually know members of the staff so needless to say I was pretty happy to be back. One of the most interesting parts of the dinner is instead of the normal clicking of glasses to get the couple to kiss (which I despise by the way), they had a novel idea. They had a mini golf station setup where you would have to walk up, take a swing, and if you made it in THEN the couple would kiss. I have photographic evidence that almost every single person cheated and took multiple strokes buuuuuuuuut I don’t think Kayla or Matt really minded. 😛
To finish up the day I brought Kayla and Matt outside for one last picture, it was shortly after sunset and I knew that if we went out in the parking lot I could get a really cool shot of them jumping with the clouds behind them. Thankfully they were totally willing to follow me a couple hundred yards across the parking (so we didn’t have random cars in the frame) and they nailed the jump on the very first try! That hardly ever happens, so yeah was psyched. All in all a great day!
