Sometimes wedding planning gets to be extra fun, because sometimes you have to plan a wedding from the other side of the country. While originally planned as an outdoor wedding, impending thunderstorms created the need for a last minute change of venue and the folks at Hotel Mead were kind enough to let us move things indoors (and it actually went great!) Despite the 96 degree weather and 90% humidity, we had a fun time at a nearby park with the entire bridal party. I asked Ashleigh and Forest to share some of her thoughts from the day! Enjoy!

When the two of you were planning the wedding together, what was the most fun part?

There wasn’t one area that was really fun overall with the wedding planning. I would say that the part we like the most though was picking out our first dance song. Forest focuses more on the melody and beat while I listen to that but focus more on the lyrics. So it was fun finding a song we both loved.”

How was experience before the ceremony, were you nervous? Excited?

“Before the ceremony I was experiencing almost every emotion possible. Nervous that there would be more last minute issues to excited to start the next chapter in our lives together.”

Were there any unforeseen problems that arose on the wedding day and if so, how did you work around them?

“The only thing on the wedding day that didn’t go according to plan was the time table before the ceremony. All the “fun” happened the day before when we had to make the decision on changing our location from the park to the hotel. Mother Nature decided to make it a very hot day and we didn’t want anyone to have to go to the hospital that day.”

If you could go back and relive any one moment of the day, what would you go back to?

“If we could go back and relive anything from the wedding day it would be the first look and our first dance. Both were amazing and perfect. And maybe the cake cutting too…would try to avoid the cake coming at me ☺”

Now that you’re a pro, what advice do you have for other brides planning their weddings?

Only advice we would give is just enjoy the day. Things won’t go exactly perfect that day but it will still be an amazing day. Sometimes when things don’t go the way you planned you get the best memories!

We want to say a huge thank you to our family and friends. If it wasn’t for them we may not have kept our sanity with all the last minute changes we had to do due to the weather.”

A special thanks to my friend Alessandro for his artistic vision on this project, behind the scenes work, and putting up with my antics all day!
